[Important] The system for acceptance support services has been partially changed as of June 1, 2026.

Changes to the "Qualification Acquisition Incentive Program"

This system has been operated with the aim of improving Specified Skilled Worker skills, but based on the increase in exam takers and successful applicants achieving certain results, from June 1, 2026, the focus has shifted to "Support for Companies After Transition to Type 2," and the payment amount has been changed to a flat 50,000 yen (for the time being).

Main changes

Support targets changed to Specified Skills Only companies that have transitioned to Type 2 personnel (at the time of passing exams, etc.)

The payment amount will be changed to a uniform 50,000 yen (for the time being).

Important points to note regarding changes

This applies to certificates issued on or after June 1, 2026.

If the certificate of passing is issued by the end of May, the old system will apply.

Changes to the "Temporary Return Support" system

In Temporary Return Support Program where Specified Skilled Worker provide a fixed amount of support for costs related to temporary return to their home country, there are significant differences depending on destination and off-peak periods. To maintain fairness in the burden of foreign nationals as a fixed amount of subsidy over actual expenses, the support level has been revised as follows.

Main changes

A flat fee of 50,000 yen is provided upon re-entry into Japan (the limit of two entries per person will continue).

Important points to note regarding changes

This applies to re-entries made on or after June 1, 2026.

If you re-enter the country by the end of May, the old system will apply.
