  • Able to secure motivated and skilled young people in the medium to long term
  • If you are going to take care of them, you need to raise them well and treat them with kindness.
  • As leaders on the ground and as the core of the company.
Why did you accept specified skilled workers?
Through recruitment and other means, we felt the decline in the number of young workers in Japan. When we looked ahead to the future, we felt that it was essential to have foreign workers who would help us in the field, so we began accepting them. The three of them first gain experience as technical intern trainees, and then they are qualified as Specified Skills and play an active role.
What benefits have you realized by accepting it?
The key point is that we can secure motivated and skilled young people for the medium to long term. All three of them came to Japan from their home country of Vietnam, and their determination and mindset is different from that of typical young people. Even after gaining experience in various fields, their proactive attitude of trying to learn the job is a good stimulus for other staff members.
What were some of the difficulties you had accepting it?
Before accepting them, I was concerned about whether they would be able to handle the situation in a field that requires rapid response due to the language barrier and communication issues, but with them, such worries were unnecessary. At the field, they communicate with those around them in Japanese and try to communicate with each other, and they work very efficiently and efficiently. To be honest, I have never had any difficulties with them.

Voices of people working on the ground

Here are the voices of three specified skilled workers who are active as crane craftsmen at Sasaki Erection.

All three are highly motivated and above all, they speak Japanese well. The reason is that the head of the office talks to me a lot in Japanese. Both technical and language skills meet the company's expectations of aiming for even greater heights.

I would like to become a leader in the field and get a Specified Skilled Worker (ii) qualification and be even more active!

Mr. Song (27 years old)

Mr. Song is the organizer of other specified skilled workers and technical intern trainees. Until now, he has been active in large-scale sites such as complex redevelopment in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and he is a reliable presence that can be used to grasp materials by looking at drawings and placing orders. "In the future, I would like to aim for a foreman and demonstrate even more leadership," he said.

I'm happy to be able to work with my coworkers at the homely Sasaki Construction Company. I love Japanese food, such as sashimi and stewed offal!

Truong (25 years old)

Through his work at Sasaki Construction, Truong learned how to "adjust work schedules while communicating" and the "importance of safety awareness." While working as a scaffolder on construction projects such as cultural facilities, he is also a caring senior who is enthusiastic about instructing technical intern trainees, and is a craftsman who is highly trusted by those around him.

I am aiming to further improve myself by watching construction videos and the work of my seniors!

Tao (25 years old)

Tao has accumulated experience at development sites for complex facilities. He says he wants to continue working in various fields, while placing importance on "understanding the work and tasks" and "prioritizing work." He is also enthusiastic about obtaining qualifications for forklifts and aerial work platforms to broaden the scope of his work.

What efforts have been made to accept them and work together with them?

Representative Director
Mr. Morio Suzuki

Since we are taking care of them in Japan, we are determined to raise them well, and we literally treat them with the utmost care.

We provide about 70 kg of rice per month, go shopping for meat and vegetables together, and support the trainees in interacting with other trainees and Japanese staff.

Fortunately, all three of them said that they enjoyed Japan and wanted to continue working in Japan, so I was glad to hear that.

Advice for companies considering accepting foreign workers

Some companies are hesitant to accept employees due to concerns about language barriers, but as the number of workers in Japan decreases, there will be more opportunities for highly motivated specified skilled workers and technical intern trainees to play an active role.

I think it is important to take advantage of the system as soon as possible and have Specified Skills people accumulate experience so that they can be role models for technical intern trainees.

A warm environment where people can easily discuss their anxieties and worries leads to a sense of security in their daily lives.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I would like the three Specified Skills to become leaders not only of technical intern trainees but also of young people in Japan. From assembling scaffolding to transporting heavy objects and demolition work, the job requires a wide range of tasks that cannot be memorized in a short period of time. Gain experience in the medium to long term Specified Skills That's why I expect them to absorb a variety of things and become human resources who can organize the field as foremen and leaders.
