2. Route to Specified Skilled Worker
There are two routes for foreigners to become Specified Skilled Worker: We will explain each in detail.

(1) Route 1: For foreigners who have not experienced Technical Intern Training (those who have passed the exam)
In order for a foreigner who has not completed the Technical Intern Training (ii) well to become a Specified Skilled Worker (i), he or she must pass both the skills evaluation exam and Japanese exams, which correspond to the level of the proficiency test level 3.
For skills evaluation exam, you must pass either the "Skill Test Level 3" or the "Construction The Specified Skills (i) Evaluation Exam for Construction Industry," which is equivalent to the Level 3 Skill Test and is administered by the Japan Japan Association for Construction Human Resources) (hereinafter referred to as "JAC").
Details such as the timing of the test will be announced on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and JAC websites as soon as they are decided.

The Specified Skills (i) Evaluation Exam for Construction Industry
For Japanese tests, it is necessary to pass either Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (Implementing Entity: (German) Japan Foundation) or Japanese Proficiency Test N4 or higher (Implementing Entity: (German) Japan Foundation and (Public Corporation) Japan Educational Exchanges and Services). For details on the timing of the Japanese test, please check with the respective organizer.
Foreigners who pass both the skills evaluation exam and Japanese examinations will be granted a status of residence called "Specified Skilled Worker (i)" after concluding a specified skilled worker employment contracts with the construction company that wishes to accept the foreigner, and going through certain procedures described below.
