- Chapter 1 04. Route to becoming a Specified Skilled Worker (Technical Intern Training experience)
Chapter 1
04. Route to becoming a Specified Skilled Worker (Technical Intern Training experience
(2) Route 2: For foreigners who have experienced Technical Intern Training (exempt from the exam)

Foreigners who have completed the Technical Intern Training (ii) in good standing are exempt from the skills evaluation exam and Japanese exams. For this reason, it is possible to become a Specified Skilled Worker (i) with an exam exemption.
For foreigners who have completed Technical Intern Training No. 3, it is possible to become a Specified Skilled Worker (i) by exempting the exam because it is assumed that they have completed the Technical Intern Training (ii) well.
In addition, foreign construction workers who are working under the status of residence "Designated Activities" (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Foreign Construction Worker Acceptance Project) are also subject to the assumption that they have completed the Technical Intern Training (ii) well, so it is possible to change from the status of residence "Designated Activities" to the status of residence "Specified Skilled Worker (i)" by exempting them from the exam.
Foreigners who are exempted from the above-mentioned examination will be granted a status of residence called "Specified Skilled Worker (i)" after concluding a specified skilled worker employment contracts with the construction company that wishes to accept the foreigner and going through certain procedures described below.
For information on the correspondence between the business category, the exams that require passing, and the correspondence between the completed Technical Intern Training, etc., please refer to Appendix 6-1 of the Operational Guidelines (Guidelines).
What does it mean to "complete Technical Intern Training (ii) well"?
