What is the "life orientation" that is carried out at the time of employment of Specified Skilled Worker?

"Life orientation" means that the host company provides the Specified Skilled Worker (i) with the information necessary for life in the Japan.
It is one of the items described in Support Plan for Specified Skilled Worker (i) and is mandatory.
In addition, 10 mandatory assistance is not required for Specified Skilled Worker (ii).

Life orientation is done after the Specified Skilled Worker (i) enters the country, but it is also necessary if you change your status of residence, such as when changing from Technical Intern Training to Specified Skills.

The content taught in the life orientation ranges from how to shop and how to withdraw money at the bank, to laws such as road rules, and employment-related contracts and notifications.

It is mandatory to conduct a life orientation because it is necessary to let people know about life and culture in Japan, prevent trouble, and continue to work for a long time with peace of mind.

Life orientation is also obligatory for foreigners who are accustomed to life in Japan.
If the implementation is less than 4 hours, it may be judged that the life orientation has not been properly carried out, and the "Operational Guidelines for Specified Skilled Worker (i) Support" of Immigration Services Agency of Japan states as follows.

After the life orientation is held, you must sign the "Life Orientation Confirmation Form" and keep it.

Previously, there was an obligation to submit, but from March 31, 2022 has been changed to no submission required (storage required), and if you have entrusted support to the host company or Registered Support Organizations, Registered Support Organizations will keep it.
