FAQ on how to apply for a certificate and use the JAC Members app
We have listed the most frequently asked questions about JAC Members account registrations and certificate applications for exams taken outside Japan.
- I want to install the "JAC Members" app. Where can I get it?
- I forgot my registered password for "JAC Members".
- I forgot my registered email address for "JAC Members".
- I made my smartphone new. Can I use it as is?
- How can I send messages from "JAC Members"?
- I have changed my smartphone but do not have a passport. How can I make a Device Information Change Request?
- How can I delete my account?
- How can I receive a pass certificate for the exam I took outside of Japan?
- How can I get a certificate of passing the exam I took in Japan?

- I want to install the "JAC Members" app. Where can I get it?

- I forgot my registered password for "JAC Members".
- Go to "Reset Password (JAC Members)" and follow the procedure to set a new password.
- I forgot my registered email address for "JAC Members".

If you have forgotten the email address registered for your JAC Members account, you will not be able to transfer messages and certificates from your original account.
Please take care not to forget the registered email address.
To create a new account, please uninstall the app and then install it again.
Go to "Register Account (JAC Members)" to check how to create an account.
- I made my smartphone new. Can I use it as is?
- If you change your smartphone, you will need to complete a procedure to continue using the app. Please refer to "When changing smartphone (Changing device information) (JAC Members)" and then follow "Change Device Information" procedure. To make a Device Information Change Request, you will need a Japanese residence card or a passport or government-issued photo ID."
- How can I send messages from "JAC Members"?
- It is not possible to send messages to JAC from the JAC Members app.

- I have changed my smartphone but do not have a passport. How can I make a Device Information Change Request?

If you do not have a passport, you can make a Device Information Change Request using a Government-issued photo ID (face photo + ID). (You can use a Japanese residence card if you are in Japan.)
Please follow the procedure from "2-1. Open the "Change Device Information" screen" of Change Device Information (JAC Members)" to make a Device Information Change Request using a Government-issued photo ID (face photo + ID) or a residence card.1. Enter your information, and take photos of your ID and face.
Ex1. Government-issued photo ID (face photo + ID)
A) Open the "Change Device Information" screen to enter your information using a Government-issued photo ID (face photo + ID)
If you don't have residence card, tap "tap here",
B) Enter your name, date of birth, and nationality
Enter your name and select your date of birth and nationality.
① First nameEnter the full name of the person who took the exam.
② Date of BirthSelect the date of birth from the displayed calendar.
③Country of CitizenshipSelect your nationality.
C) Take a photo of your Government-issued photo ID (face photo + ID)
Under "Take Photos of the identification", select "Other".The "Take photos of Government-issued ID with your face photo" area will appear.
* The following are accepted forms of Government-issued photo IDs (face photo + ID).
- Photo ID similar to a Japanese Individual Number Card
- Student card
- Driver's license
Tap the
icon in the "Take photos of Government-issued ID with your face photo" area.
Take a photo of both sides of the ID.
★Good photos
・Characters can be read clearly.
★Bad photos
・It's glowing and you can't recognize faces or letters.
Please check "2. Take a photo of your face".
Ex2. Japanese residence card
A) Open the "Change Device Information" screen to enter your information using a residence cardCheck the "Take photos of your residence card." is displayed.
If it is not displayed, tap "tap here" of If you have a residence card, tap here.
B) Take photos of your residence card
Tap the
icon in the "Take photos of Residence Card" area. Read the explanation on the screen carefully. Take three photos (A to C) using your smartphone. Position the card within the frame.

B. Angled photo showing card thickness and your face.
C. Back of ID (side without face) 
2. Take a photo of your face
After entering everything, look at the "2-6. Take a photo of your face" of "When changing smartphones (changing device information)".
- How can I delete my account?
- To delete your JAC Members account, refer to "Delete account (JAC Members)".
- How can I receive a pass certificate for the exam I took outside of Japan?
- Please refer to "Obtain a certificate (for exams taken outside Japan)" and apply for your certificate.
- How can I get a certificate of passing the exam I took in Japan?
- To obtain a pass certificate for the exam taken in Japan, please check the messages in the JAC My Page account that you used when you applied for the exam. For more details, go to "Step5. Check the completion message for your application from JAC" of "How to apply for exam".
